I went into the film with a pretty shitty mind set of it sucking. Jackie Earle Haley was great as Freddy, but he lacked the scummy fun of Robert Englund. There were some changes from the original and honestly I felt the in depth inclusion of his origins made him kind of lame (Different origins than the original films). Johnny Depp's character's death doesn't even exist in this film, which is too bad because it is one of the most iconic deaths in horror. The use of CGI actually brought this film down in my eyes, I guess sometimes you can't replace good old fasion practical effects with CGI (Yes Ninja Assassin I'm looking at your CGI Blood, you dick).
THE VERDICT: Wait for DVD and watch the old one. Sometimes you just can't remake the greats no matter how cheesy they are. This would be a D if Jackie Earle Haley wasn't a phenomenal actor.
